A Brief History

The criteria for a Diocesan high school are:

  • It must be intrinsically Catholic with mandatory instruction in the Catholic faith, as well as regularly scheduled Mass and confession.

  • It must be academically excellent with a college preparatory curriculum, approved by the Diocesan Superintendent of Schools.

  • There must be community support.

  • It must be financially feasible.

For over a decade, the Diocese of Charleston has been studying the idea of a Catholic High School in the Myrtle Beach area and in 1999, land was purchased in Carolina Forest near highways 501 and 31and the Robert Grissom Parkway for this purpose. Local interest and recommendations from the Meitler study, a long-range plan commissioned by the diocese in 2000, encouraged the creation of a planning task force, headed by Monsignor Joseph Roth, to further study building this high school.

We are currently seeking a Catholic teaching order to operate the high school. This will be a full service high school with athletics, religious and social clubs, as well as other extracurricular activities.
